June 2004 - Forth Valley GIS has selected Infoshare's
StreeWise Professional product as their address
cleansing and matching solution to complement
its Gazetteer management and GIS applications.
Forth Valley GIS utilise 'Best of Breed' applications
in order to enable Modernising Government initiatives
through the provision of innivative and integrated
enterprise GIS at the three partner Councils.
StreetWise Professional from Infoshare
will assist Forth Valley in meeting their
commitments to the Definitive National
Addressing for Scotland (DNA(S)) programme.
Due
to the complexity of gazetteer creation across
multiple areas, Forth Valley needed a product
that provided a rigid structure and methodology
to manage multiple agency input as well as the
inclusion and ongoing synchronisation of multiple
datasets.
StreetWise
Professional supports concurrent access to 3 separate
gazetteer databases, simultaneously maintaining
and enhancing gazetteer databases for the three
parent Councils of Forth Valley GIS - Clackmannanshire,
Falkirk and Stirling Councils.
Tom
Moore, Forth Valley GIS explains: "We considered
a number of competitive solutions, but Infoshare
had a stronger development pipeline and a repeatable
and standardised methodology of address matching
that suited our needs."
Proof
of data accuracy is a key element of effective
gazetteer creation and maintenance. Moore continues:
"Infoshare's record by record audit trail and
report scans enables us to build up data intelligence
that allows us to look for data inconsistencies
and patterns that can be resolved in bulk."
StreetWise
Professional also provides a user-friendly interface
for query resolution, which enables users to easily
view the Gazetteer and match in additional data
sets.
Adrian
McKeon, managing director of Infoshare commented: "Forth Valley GIS is a pioneer of gazetteer creation
and maintenance in Scotland and is sharing its
findings nationally. We are pleased that Infoshare
is playing such a key role in the project."
